CV Weekly: Coachella 2026 Weekend 1 Recap, Upcoming Events & New Businesses
🎶 Coachella 2026 Weekend 1 — What a Ride!
The desert was buzzing this past weekend as Coachella 2026 kicked off its 25th anniversary celebration at the Empire Polo Club in Indio. Over 125,000 music lovers descended on the Coachella Valley for three unforgettable days of music, art, and community.
The Headliners
Friday — Sabrina Carpenter delivered a triumphant return to Coachella, this time as a headliner. Her set was packed with Grammy-nominated hits like "Espresso" and "Please Please Please," and she surprised the crowd by bringing out actors Will Ferrell and Susan Sarandon instead of the typical musical guests. High winds unfortunately forced the cancellation of Anyma's electronic set, but the rest of the night more than delivered.
Saturday — Justin Bieber made his highly anticipated return to a major stage after stepping back from touring due to health challenges. His set was unlike anything Coachella has seen — he sat on stage with a laptop scrolling through his old YouTube hits and sang along karaoke-style, blending nostalgia with his newer tracks from Swag and Swag II. Love it or debate it, #Bieberchella was the most talked-about set of the weekend. Special guests included The Kid Laroi, Tems, and Wizkid. Fun fact: Hailey Bieber and baby Jack Blues were cheering him on from the crowd!
Sunday — Karol G made history as the first Latina artist to ever headline Coachella, closing out Weekend 1 with 20 songs, a Gloria Estefan cover, and surprise appearances from Becky G and Wisin. An explosively energetic and socially conscious performance that had the entire polo field dancing.
More Weekend 1 Highlights
- Jack White pulled a surprise set in the Mojave Tent on Saturday — and yes, he closed with "Seven Nation Army"
- Bini became the first Filipino group ever to perform at Coachella
- The Strokes delivered a commanding, loud, and laser-filled set on the main stage
- Radiohead's "Bunker" Experience offered an immersive, air-conditioned audiovisual journey through Kid A and Amnesiac
- Iggy Pop proved age is just a number with a shirtless, high-energy punk set on Sunday
Weekend 2 is this Friday through Sunday (April 17–19) with the same lineup. If you're staying local, expect the usual Coachella traffic in Indio and surrounding areas — plan your commutes accordingly!
