CV Weekly: Fall Modernism Week Wraps Up, Nothing Bundt Cakes Opens in Palm Springs & More
✨ Last Week Around the Valley
It was a big week in the Coachella Valley — from architecture to athletics, the community showed up in full force.
Fall Modernism Week Wraps Up in Style
Palm Springs' beloved Fall Modernism Week (October 15–18) concluded with more than 50 events celebrating midcentury modern architecture, art, and design. The 2026 edition introduced an exciting evening-focused format, including the new Modernism Week After Dark social circuit and a curated Fall Dining Series at five local restaurants. Highlights included the first-ever public tour of Blue Skies Village — a rare William F. Cody-designed Hollywood retreat in Rancho Mirage — and a first-ever produced tour of the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway. The 12th annual Palm Springs Modernism Fall Show at the Convention Center drew national and international exhibitors. Learn more.
La Quinta Fall Fest Returns
The second annual La Quinta Fall Fest brought the community together at La Quinta Park on October 16 for a festive autumn celebration. A great reminder that fall in the desert has its own special magic!
Tram Road Challenge Conquers the Mountain
Hundreds of runners and walkers took on the Palm Springs Aerial Tram Road Challenge on October 17, racing up the iconic winding road with post-event festivities at the top. A true Coachella Valley tradition.
Live Music Lights Up the Valley
October's concert calendar has been packed. 10,000 Maniacs performed at the historic Plaza Theatre on October 18, part of a stellar month that has also featured Chris Isaak, Los Lobos, UB40, and more at venues across the valley. See the full venue report.
New Exhibition at Agua Caliente Cultural Museum
The Agua Caliente Cultural Museum launched a powerful new exhibition featuring paintings by Indigenous artists who experienced boarding school and mission institution systems — a moving and important addition to the valley's cultural landscape.
Coachella Breaks Ground on Avenue 50 Bridge
The City of Coachella held a groundbreaking ceremony on October 15 for the new Avenue 50 Bridge crossing the Coachella Valley Stormwater Channel — a significant infrastructure milestone for the eastern valley.
Civic Engagement Season Heats Up
The Greater Coachella Valley Chamber of Commerce is hosting a series of City Council Candidate Forums this week and next: Coachella & Indio (Oct 20), Indian Wells (Oct 22), and Desert Hot Springs (Oct 23). A great opportunity to meet your local candidates before November elections.
