    • Palm Springs VillageFest β€” Back to School Night (Aug 20): The beloved Thursday street fair took on a festive "Back to School Night" theme, featuring themed arts, crafts, and community activities along Palm Canyon Drive between Baristo and Amado Roads, running 7–10 p.m.

    • Los Rieleros Del Norte at Fantasy Springs (Aug 21): The popular norteΓ±o group performed at the Special Events Center at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio, drawing fans for an 8 p.m. show with free parking and Rewards Club perks.

    • The Wizard of Oz at The Plaza Theatre (Aug 22): Palm Springs' historic Plaza Theatre screened the classic film, offering a cool escape from the summer heat.

    • Taste Japan at Wabi Sabi (Aug 22): Wabi Sabi Japan Living in Palm Springs hosted a "Taste Japan" cooking demonstration, celebrating Japanese culinary culture with the local community.

🌑️ Extreme Heat Warning


An Extreme Heat Warning is in effect for the Coachella Valley through 8 p.m. Friday, August 28. Dangerously hot conditions are expected, with highs ranging from 110Β°F to 116Β°F across the valley β€” Palm Springs forecast to reach 109–114Β°F, and Coachella potentially hitting 115Β°F on August 26. Overnight lows will remain near 88–91Β°F, offering little relief.


Please stay safe: drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned spaces, limit direct sun exposure, and check on neighbors, elderly relatives, and anyone vulnerable to heat illness. Cooling centers are available throughout the valley β€” contact your city for locations.

    • FIND Food Bank

      According to their website, FIND Food Bank is currently welcoming volunteers to help sort, clean, and box donations, assist at food distributions, and deliver pre-packaged food to homebound clients. Volunteers age 17+ can assist in warehouse and distribution roles; delivery volunteers must be 18+. Special opportunities exist for youth ages 14–17.       According to their website, the Coachella Valley Rescue Mission is currently welcoming volunteers for meal preparation and service, facility maintenance, resale-boutique assistance, tutoring, mentoring, and street outreach.
